CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech soccer team dropped its first Ohio Valley Conference clash of the season as the Golden Eagles were upended 1-0 at Austin Peay Sunday afternoon.

The Govs (6-2-1, 1-0-1 OVC) scored in the 18th minute and kept Tech off the scoreboard to extend a four-match unbeaten streak. TTU's loss snapped a 10-match conference unbeaten streak for the Golden Eagles (5-4-0, 1-1-0) dating back to last year.

Sophomore Claire Larose collected her fifth goal of the season, a score that saw the London, Ontario, Canada native receive a pass from Jade Dauriat before finishing in a one-on-one situation with Tech goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann. Dauriat registered an assist on the play.

Six different Golden Eagles recorded a shot in the match as Cassidy Bereda, Ashley Grimes, Taylor Hornback, Kendall Powell, Chloe Smith and Nora Vicsek each had one attempt. Grimes, Powell and Vicsek all had one shot on-goal to account for TTU's trio of tries in the match.

Amber Bateman and Jennifer Smith paced APSU with three shots each. The Govs took 12 shots in the contest.

Kari Naerdemann captured a pair of saves, while Mary Parker Powell made three stops en route to the clean sheet.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up a brief two-match road swing with a Friday, Sept. 21 affair at UT Martin. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
