Tech soccer match at Lipscomb canceled due to rain

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech soccer team's Monday evening match against Lipscomb was canceled Monday morning due to ongoing rain that made field conditions unplayable. The team will not reschedule its final non-conference match.

The Golden Eagles are scheduled to play again this Sunday, September 23, on the Tech Soccer Field in a 1 p.m. CT against Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State. The match will mark two special occasions as the OVC opener for the Golden Eagles as well as Tech's annual Think Pink game.

Players will be tossing out Think Pink t-shirts prior to the match along with taking donations for breast cancer awareness.

The soccer team was quite busy this weekend, volunteering at two seperate events on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the players helped out at Northeast Elementary School during its annual BBQ and Carnival. The Golden Eagles worked different activity booths, normally manned by the parents of the students, collecting tickets and allowing the parents to spend qualtiy time with their children.

On Saturday, the girls provided a helping hand at the American Diabetes Association's annual Step Out walk event. The players assisted in providing beverages and fruit to the walk's particpants. They also handed out information on diabetes to those who wanted to learn more.
