Tennessee Tech soccer team shares in story time at NE Elementary

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Even though their 2012 season ended Sunday afternoon and they had no practice the following morning, the members of the Tennessee Tech soccer team passed on their first chance to sleep in in months to read stories to the students of Northeast Elementary School Monday morning.

At 8:00 a.m., several Golden Eagle players made their way out the NE Elementary to read stories to each of the grade levels at the school. Players divided into groups and then took turns reading books, several that they remember from their own childhood, to the students and children of the school.

The event marked just another in what has been a busy season in the community for the soccer team. Earlier in the season, the Golden Eagles volunteered their time on several occasions and frequently throughout the season at different schools. They donated time to clean up City Lake park and were also seen at several events around the community such as the After Dark - Race for the Park 8K, the local "Step Out" diabetes walk, and the Northeast Elementary BBQ and Carnival.
