COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech soccer team heads into its
final match of the Ohio Valley Conference regular season this week
when it travels to Jacksonville State to face the Gamecocks on
Friday at 7 p.m.
The Golden Eagles enter the week at 3-2-2 in OVC play and 4-10-3
overall. Jacksonville State owns a 4-1-3 all-time advantage over
Tech, but comes into the week at 6-10-0 overall, and 0-6-0 in OVC
play.
Tech is coming off a 0-1-1 week after tying Eastern Illinois 2-2
in the mud in Charleston, Ill., and falling to Southeast
Missouri 1-0 in OVC action over the weekend.
Tech's looks to gain position in the OVC standings, as the OVC
tournament is just around the corner. The league's top six teams
will advance to the tournament, which will be hosted by the regular
season champion. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will earn first-round
byes. The tournament will take place Nov. 5-8, and the winner will
receive an automatic bid to the NCAA soccer tournament.
The Golden Eagles will wrap up the regular season with a
non-conference match at Lipscomb on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
