Tech falls to USC Upstate, 4-1, on day one of French Broad Collegiate

ARDEN, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team finished its first match-play event of the season Sunday evening, falling 4-1 to USC Upstate at the French Broad Collegiate in Arden, N.C. Competing at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, host UNC Asheville tied its match-up with Gardner-Webb, each side posting 2.5 points. 

Senior Katrine Toennessen claimed the lone victory for the Golden Eagles, defeating Upstate's Ashley Looper 1UP. The Spartans' Preaw Nontarux defeated her twin sister and fellow senior Elisabeth Toennessen, 3-1.

USC Upstate picked up two more victories with matching scores of 4&3, starting with Beem Pabsimma over Tech's junior Ainsley Simms. Suwarin Yord-In earned the win over Golden Eagle senior Gittle Sciolis

Rounding out the scoring for the day, rookie Reagan Stuke was just edged out by Elin Wahlgren, falling 1UP. 

The Golden Eagles will square off with Gardner-Webb on Monday to wrap up the event, kicking off the action with tee times starting at 9:00 a.m. CT.
