Golden Eagle women's golf team begins 2022-23 slate at Golfweek Fall Challenge

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team is set to begin its 2022-23 campaign with the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawley's Island, S.C. Running from Sunday through Tuesday, the 54-hole event will be held at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.

GOLFWEEK FALL CHALLENGE: Sept. 11-13, 2022 – 54 holes (18 Sunday, 18 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-71, 6,026-yard Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C. Play will begin Sunday with 18 holes of action. Tech will compete in one more round each on Monday and Tuesday to conclude the event.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are junior Ainsley Simms, senior Elisabeth Toennessen, senior Gittle Sciolis, senior Makenzie Morton, and senior Katrine Toennessen. Competing as an individual is freshman Kaitlyn Rand.

THE COMPETITION: The 20-team field consists of App State, Austin Peay, CBU, Campbell, Delaware, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Georgetown, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Morehead State, New Mexico State, Presbyterian, Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee Tech, UIC, UNCW, USC Upstate, Winthrop, and Wofford.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH AMANDA SMITH: "We are so excited to be returning to such a phenomenal course that will test both our physical and mental skills. The course set up is gorgeous and truly embodies a beach style challenge. We look forward to showcasing what we have nailed down in practice these last few weeks. After some strong qualifying, I know the team is confident and ready to head to our first tournament of the fall season."
