Golden Eagles finish sixth at Chris Banister Golf Classic

GADSDEN, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded play at the Chris Banister Golf Classic Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up the third and final round at RTJ at Silver Lakes in Gadsden, Ala. in sixth place.

The Golden Eagles completed their third event of the fall with a round of 328, finishing at 971 overall for the three-day tournament. Host Jacksonville State hung on for the title with a total score of 896 after a round-three total of 297. Tying for first individually in the field of 43 golfers were Elon's Kanokwan Ngamwong and Murray State's Payton Carter, each posting a 214.

It was Ainsley Simms once again leading the purple and gold, finishing in a tie for 14th after concluding play with a 230 overall. The returning freshman concluded the week with a 79 in her last trip around the course, totaling 12 pars.

Ranking next on the leaderboard for the Golden Eagles was sophomore Katrine Toennessen, carding an 80 with a birdie. She tied for 25th in the field. Fellow sophomore Gittle Sciolis placed 34th after producing an 82 for a final tournament score of 249.

One place behind her teammate was Isabel York, finishing 35th with a 257. The senior turned in an 87 for her final round of the week. Matching York's third round was Makenzie Morton, completing the week 36th. The sophomore rounded out the Tech lineup with a 259 overall.

Tying for 14th while competing as an individual, senior Hannah Bratton totaled an 81 for the last round of action. She tied with Simms on the leaderboard, boasting a 230 overall score.

Tech will wrap up the 2021-22 fall slate in two weeks, heading to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Terrier Intercollegiate at The Carolina Country Club from Monday, Oct. 25 through Tuesday, Oct. 26.
