Golden Eagle women's golf team completes round one of Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Round one of the 2021-22 season is officially in the books for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team, as the Golden Eagles wrapped up play on Sunday at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.

The purple and gold put together a 320 over the first round of action, competing with 19 other teams at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C. Campbell led the way on the first day, shooting a 280 with Anna Nordfors leading all golfers with a 66 overall.

Junior Heidi Lawson paced the Golden Eagles with a 75 on the day, tying for 43rd among a large field of 100 golfers. She tallied three birdies over her first 18 holes of action. Returning freshman Ainsley Simms was next among Tech's finishers, tying for 73rd with a score of 80 and one birdie.

Finishing third among the Golden Eagle lineup was senior Hannah Bratton, carding an 81 to tie for 83rd. Sophomore Makenzie Morton completed her first round of the season with an 84.

Rounding out the Tech lineup was senior Isabel York, finishing with an 87 overall.

The second round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge will begin at 6:50 a.m. CT.
