MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team finished up the first two rounds of action at the Jan Weaver Invitational Friday afternoon, competing at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State's two-day event.
The Golden Eagles concluded the first day of play with a pair of rounds of 317, totaling 634 for 36 holes to rank 12th among the field. Central Arkansas led the way in the event, capturing a 305-293=598 to lead host Murray State by one stroke.
Individually, Belmont's Delia Gibbs shot a 71-72=143 to tie for the lead. Also at the top was Bradley's Taylor Ledwein, who fired a 69-74=143.
For the purple and gold, it was redshirt senior Arianna Clemmer guiding the way with a 155. The Milan, Tenn. native tied for 32nd after rounds of 79 and 76 on the first day of action.
A trio of Golden Eagles tied for 48th overall, all producing two-round totals of 160. Sophomore Elisabeth Toennessen carded a first-round 81 before shaving a pair of shots of the top and turning in a 79 in the second round.
Fellow sophomore Katrine Toennessen put forth a 78 for her first round and followed it up with an 82 the second time around the course. Freshman Ainsley Simms, also tied with a 160, shot back-to-back rounds of 80.
Senior Isabel York wrapped up her first two rounds of play with scores of 80 and 87 for a 167 overall. Competing as an individual, sophomore Gittle Sciolis concluded her day with a 174 behind rounds of 86 and 88.
Round three of the Jan Weaver Invitational will kick off Saturday morning with a 9:00 a.m. CT shotgun start.
