Golden Eagles through two rounds of action at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Another round is in the books at the eighth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, with the Tennessee Tech women's golf team sporting a pair of teams in its own tournament at Sevierville Golf Club.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up round two on the Highlands Course Monday, with the Purple Team moving up a spot in the rankings to eighth with a 316-318=634. The Gold Team finished the day in 12th with a 320-332=652. 

For the second-straight day, Eastern Kentucky led the event, producing a 297-295=592 behind another strong showing from individual leader Ragga Kristinsdottir. The Colonel finished the day at even-par for the tournament after a 70-72=142.

Competing for the Purple Team for Tech, senior Hannah Bratton stayed in a tie for 10th place among the field of 65 golfers. She carded a 78 on the day, bringing her two-round total to 153. 

Taking part in her first collegiate event, the Purple Team's Ainsley Simms improved her spot on the leaderboard after an 80 on Monday. The freshman totaled 158 through 36 holes to tie for 24th overall. Just one shot back of her teammate, Purple Team member Heidi Lawson also completed the day with an 80 for a total score of 159 and ranking of tied for 28th. 

Leading the Gold Team for the Golden Eagles through day two was Kate Mashburn in a tie for 40th. The senior produced an 83 for a 162. Sophomore Makenzie Morton tied for 44th after finishing with an 83 of her own and two-day total of 164.

Improving by five shots from Sunday, the Purple Team's Elisabeth Toennessen moved into 46th on the leaderboard with a score of 80 on Monday. Her 165 placed her one shot ahead of her twin sister, Katrine Toennessen. The fellow sophomore tied for 47th after the second day of play with a 166 overall and a round of 82 for the Purple Team.

Also tied for 47th in the rankings was another Tech sophomore, the Gold Team's Gittle Sciolis. She posted an 85 for a 166. Rounding out the Tech lineup and tied for 53rd were Arianna Clemmer and Isabel York, both posting 168s. A redshirt senior, Clemmer tallied an 89 while York, a senior, shaved six shots from her first round for an 81.

The third and final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate is set to begin Tuesday morning with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
