Golden Eagles move to sixth to conclude Town and Country Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The fall portion of the 2019-20 campaign came to a close for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team Tuesday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles wrapped up the second and final round of action at the Town and Country Invitational at McCable Golf Course.

The purple and gold rounded out the semester's slate of play with a 299 to jump past Morehead State and finish sixth among the eight teams in competition in Nashville. Coupled with the team's first-round 296, Tech posted a 595 overall. Troy claimed the team title, ripping off a 280 to finish at 566 and 15 shots ahead of runner-up Lipscomb.

A trio of Golden Eagles finished atop the team's leaderboard following the conclusion of the event, with Heidi Lawson, Hannah Bratton and Katrine Toennessen each tying for 20th place out of the 49 golfers in competition. Each recorded a 149 for the two-day event, but it was Toennessen who paced Tech on Tuesday with a 3-over 73. The freshman put forth three birdies and nine pars.

Behind 11 pars and a birdie, the sophomore carded a 76 in her final round of the fall. Bratton contributed a 74 for the team on Tuesday, producing 10 pars and a pair of birdies.

Tying for 29th was freshman Gittle Sciolis, who matched her first-round 76 with another 76 in round two. She parred 12 holes while concluding play with an overall score of 152. Rounding out the Tech lineup, fellow rookie Elisabeth Toennessen posted an 81 to finish at 153.

Competing as an individual, senior Arianna Clemmer posted a 3-over 73 to move up the rankings and tie with Sciolis for 29th overall. Her 152 came with 13 pars and a birdie in the second round alone.

Troy teammates Nicole Lorup and ShaeBug Scarberry tied with Belmont's Katelyn Dunstan for the individual title, each compiling a 140.
