Miller earns top-10 finish, Golden Eagles place sixth at OVC Championships

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded the 2018-19 season with a sixth place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Wednesday afternoon after three rounds of action at the Schoolmaster Course at the Shoals.

The Golden Eagles once again saw improvement from the previous day of play, scratching a stroke off of Tuesday's 306 to post a 305 in the third and final round. For the tournament, Tech shot 920, finishing nine shots behind fifth-place Austin Peay and 27 shots ahead of seventh-place Morehead State.

Turning in the second-lowest round of the day among the field of 45 was senior Lindsay Miller, who ended her four-year Tech career with a top-10 finish. The veteran tied for ninth overall after leading the Golden Eagles with a 1-under 71 in round three and a 224 for the event. Her final collegiate round was highlighted by an impressive six birdies.

Just a few shots back of her teammate, Shelby Johnson carded a 227 for the week to tie for 17th place overall. She carded a 4-over 76 with three birdies on the day.

Taking part in her first career OVC Tournament was freshman Heidi Lawson, who turned in a 237 after all three rounds. The rookie finished 29th overall, posting scores of 78, 76 and 83 while recording two birdies in the final round.

Junior Arianna Clemmer captured 10 pars over her final 18 holes of the season, posting an 82 to conclude the week at 239 and in a tie for 30th. Sophomore Kate Mashburn rounded out the Tech lineup, ranking 36th after tallying a 246 behind scores of 87, 83 and 76.
