Golden Eagles conclude play at Starmount Fall Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The third and final round of the Starmount Fall Classic came to a finish Tuesday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles wrapped up play at the Starmount Forest Country Club 12th out of 15 teams.

Tech posted a final-round score of 317, rounding out the two days of action with a 950 (318-315-317) overall.

Lindsay Miller was the leader in the clubhouse for the Golden Eagles, finishing 16th individually among a field of 87 golfers. The senior veteran carded a third-round 77 for a total score of 225 (77-71-77) for the week.

Turning in the low round of the day was Shelby Johnson. The junior concluded the third event of the season carding a 237 (82-79-76), showing improvement each round. He third-round 76 put her in a tie for 48th overall.

Sophomore Hannah Bratton ranked next among the Tech participants, turning in a 248 (76-88-84) for three rounds of work. Just a stroke behind was junior Arianna Clemmer, who tallied a 429 (83-82-84). Rounding out the Golden Eagle lineup was true freshman Heidi Lawson. The rookie also saw improvement after each round, finishing with a 250 (87-83-80) overall.

Tennessee's Malia Stovall led her team to the tournament title, claiming individual honors along the way by firing a 211 (70-71-70). The Vols finished with an 866 (293-291-282), winning the event by 35 shots.

Tech will have the weekend off from competition before returning to the links on Monday, Oct. 15 for the two-day Fred Marx Invitational at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, La.
