GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following two rounds, the first day of the Starmount Fall Classic is officially in the books for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team, which competed at Starmount Forest Country Club in UNCG's annual event for the third straight year.
With one round left to play on Tuesday, the Golden Eagles ranked 11th out of 15 teams, posting a 633 (318-315) overall. Tech sat just eight shots back of 10th place and Wofford.
Coming off her first career All-Tournament honor last week at the Chris Bannister Fall Classic, Lindsay Miller led the way for the purple and gold again on Monday, finishing the day tied for eighth place among the 87 participants. The senior carded a 4-over 148 (77-71), capturing an impressive 1-under 71 during the second round, fueled by three birdies and 13 pars.
Finishing next in the Tech lineup was junior Shelby Johnson. The veteran concluded play with a 161 (82-79), ranking 59th overall. Following her teammate was sophomore Hannah Bratton, who tied for 65th. She turned in a 164 (76-88) for the first day of work.
Tying for 68th with a 165 (83-82) was junior Arianna Clemmer while freshman Heidi Lawson rounded out the Golden Eagle participants with a 170 (87-83).
Tennessee led all teams after the first two rounds, finishing with a 584 (293-291) behind the play of individual leader Malia Stovall's 141 (70-71).
Play will wrap up Tuesday beginning with an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start.
