MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team saved its best round for last at the GolfWeek Program Championship, breaking a tie for 12th place among the 14 teams with strong finish to the event on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles, led by the steady play all week from junior Shelby Johnson, wrapped up their first action of the season with a final-round tally of 302, a 10-stroke improvement from Monday. Tech beat out Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay by eight strokes, finishing with a 929 (315-312-302).

Johnson tied for 33rd overall in the field of 75, rounding out play with a third-round 75 for a 229 (77-77-75) overall final score.

Seniors Lindsay Miller and Arianna Clemmer each shaved strokes off their day-two tallies, tying each other for 44th in the event. Miller earned a 233 (74-84-75) after bouncing back from an inflated Monday score while Clemmer carded her 233 (82-77-74) with her second straight day of improvement.

Ranked just behind her teammates, sophomore Hannah Bratton completed action at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club with a 235 (82-75-78). Fellow sophomore Isabel York posted a 253 (90-83-80), lowering her score each round of the event.

Campbell took home the team crown for the week, completing play with an 834 behind the play of individual champion, Isabel Ekstrom. She led wire-to-wire, finishing with a 202 overall.

Nearly two weeks separate the Golden Eagles from their next taste of action, taking a week off the road before returning to play at the Chris Bannister Fall Classic. Hosted at Silver Lakes Golf Course by Jacksonville State, the event is slated to run from Sunday, Sept. 23 through Tuesday, Sept. 25.
