Tech shows improvement on day two of GolfWeek Program Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Day two of the GolfWeek Program Championship came to a close Monday afternoon, as the Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded the second round of action with a three-stroke improvement over Sunday's showing.

The Golden Eagles collectively turned in a 312 on the second day of action, combining with their first-day total of 315 for a 627 overall. Through 36 holes, Tech ranked in a tie for 12th place among 14 teams, locked neck-and-neck with Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay.

Campbell took control of the overall lead after finishing with a 277, owning a 560 total to sit two strokes ahead of Old Dominion. Campbell's Isabell Eksrom matched her first-round total of 67 to stay in front individually with a 134 total.

Junior Shelby Johnson posted her second round of 77 in the event to jump into the lead among the Golden Eagle participants. Her total score of 154 ranked her in a tie for 35th among the 75 golfers.

Hannah Bratton enjoyed a resurgent performance on Monday, clipping seven strokes from her first-round total to post a team-low 75 for the day. The sophomore tied for 47th overall after piling up four birdies and brining her total for two days to a 157.

Seniors Lindsay Miller and Arianna Clemmer concluded the second day of action just a stroke apart. Miller carded an 84 for a 158 two-day total while Clemmer shaved five strokes from her Sunday scorecard for a 77 and total of 159.

Rounding out the action on the day for the Golden Eagles was sophomore Isabel York, who also made significant improvement from the first round. She knocked seven strokes off her first try at Caledonia Fish & Golf Club, turning in an 83 for a 173 overall.

The Golden Eagles are set to close out play in Myrtle Beach Tuesday morning beginning with tee times at 6:39 a.m. CT.
