Golden Eagles complete Colonel Classic in 12th

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed play at the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon, placing 12th among the field of 15 teams competing at the University Club at Arlington.

The Golden Eagles posted a 323 on day two of play, finishing the event with an overall total of 632. Host Eastern Kentucky and Xavier tied after two rounds with scores of 595, with Xavier claiming the team title after a playoff. Western Kentucky's Mary Joiner defeated Danielle Nicholson of Akron for the individual medalist title after a tiebreaker.

Junior Hollee Sadler led the Tech effort throughout the event, tying for 20th overall among the 90 participants. The veteran posted a 152 overall after rounds of 72 on Friday and 80 on Saturday.

Fellow junior Lindsay Miller trimmed two strokes off her first-round 79 for a 77 on day two, tying for 43rd with a final score of 156. Tying for 67th was sophomore Shelby Johnson, who scored a 162 after carding rounds of 77 and 85.

A pair of true freshmen rounded out the Tech lineup, with Isabel York tying for 77th and Kate Mashburn tying for 82nd. York completed her first collegiate round as part of the starting five with an 83-81=164. Mashburn turned in scores of 81 and 87 for a 168.

Also tying for 82nd in Richmond was freshman Hannah Bratton. She notched back-to-back rounds of 84 for a 168 overall.

The Golden Eagles will return to action Friday, Apr. 6 for the Jan Weaver Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky.
