RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team rounded out the first day of the rain-shortened Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky Friday afternoon, finishing 10th among the 15 teams in the field at the University Club at Arlington.

Originally slated for 54 holes, with 36 expected on Friday, the event was cut by a round due to rain and course conditions. The second and final round is slated for a 9 a.m. CT start on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles put forth a 309 through the first round, sitting less than 10 strokes back from a top-three ranking in the standings. Western Kentucky led the 15-team field after 18 holes, posting a 297 to lead Akron by a single stroke. WKU's Mary Joiner led the field on the day with a 2-under 70.

Leading the way for Tech through day one was junior Hollee Sadler, who notched an even-par 72 to tie for second place among the field of 90 players.

Sophomore Shelby Johnson ranked next among Tech's lineup, posting a 77 following her first round of action. She tied for 29th overall.

Tying for 46th was junior Lindsay Miller, who wrapped up her first day of the event with a 79. Next among the Golden Eagle starters was freshman Kate Mashburn, who's 81 tied her for 62nd. Fellow rookie Isabel York tallied an 83 to tie for 74th.
