COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team officially kicks off the 2017-18 spring slate Sunday morning, taking part in the three-day, 42-team Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.
EDWIN WATTS / KIAWAH ISLAND SPRING CLASSIC: Feb. 25-27, 2018 – 54 holes (18 Sunday, 18 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-72, 5,964-yard Osprey Point Course and par-72, 5,941-yard Oak Point Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C. Teams will begin action on Sunday with shotgun starts at 7:45 a.m. CT and 1:30 p.m..
GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are junior Hollee Sadler, senior Allyson Dunn, sophomore Shelby Johnson, sophomore Arianna Clemmer and junior Lindsay Miller.
THE COMPETITION: The 42-team field consists of host College of Charleston, as well as Bethune Cookman, Boston University, Bucknell, Charleston Southern, East Tennessee State, Elon, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgia Southern, Georgetown, Hampton, High Point, Indian State, IUPUI, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Longwood, Marshall, Navy, UNCG, UNCW, Murray Staet, North Florida, Omaha, Presbyterian, Quinnipiac, Richmond, Samford, Sandhills Community College, SCAD, Stephen F. Austin, Stetson, St. John's, South Dakota, Tennessee Tech, Towson, USC Upstate, UT Arlington, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky and William & Mary.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "This a great tournament to start the spring. We get to play two outstanding golf courses in Kiawah Island, and the field is the largest in college golf. The women have been working extremely hard and are ready to get after it. We are looking forward to a great week."
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The Golden Eagles will once again take part in the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, an event that uses two courses over three rounds. Teams will alternate between the Osprey Point and Oak Point courses on Sunday and Monday. The Top 22 teams will then play for the championship at Osprey Point on Sunday.
