Tech women's golf team in eighth of 15 after day one of Bill Berg Invitational

HAYESVILLE, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed the first day of play at the Bill Berg Invitational in eighth place among 15 teams Monday afternoon, sitting just nine strokes out of third place after a score of 626.

The Golden Eagles put together rounds of 307 and 319 to rank just four strokes behind Ohio Valley Conference rival Eastern Kentucky and 32 strokes ahead of Morehead State.

A pair of sophomores led the way for the Golden Eagles through the first two rounds, with Arianna Clemmer and Shelby Johnson each tying for 20th among the 81 participants. Clemmer posted a 3-over 75 in the first round, combining with a second-round 81 for a156 overall. Johnson carded a 73-83=156 on her first day of action.

Veterans Hollee Sadler and Allyson Dunn both tied for 40th after matching each other with final scores of 160. Sadler put together rounds of 77 and 83 while Dunn rebounded nicely after a first-round 85 for a second-round 75.

Rounding out Tech's participants in Western Carolina's event was junior Lindsay Miller, who posted a 162 to tie for 144th. Miller finished with scores of 82 and 80 for her final score on day one.

A 7:45 a.m. CT shotgun start is slated for the third and final round on Tuesday at The Ridges Country Club.
