RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded play at the EKU Colonel Classic at the University Club at Arlington Saturday afternoon, placing fourth among the 13-team field in Richmond, Ky.
The Golden Eagles finished with a third-round total of 313, rounding out the event with an overall total of 929. Ball State captured the tournament title, winning by a whopping 13 strokes over Ohio with an overall score of 900. Ohio edged tournament host, Eastern Kentucky, by a single shot for the runner-up finish, posting a 913 behind a tournament-low 292 in the final round.
Individually, Ball State's Sydney Anderson took home medalist honors with a 220 composite total.
Allyson Dunn led the Golden Eagles with a fourth place finish and her second consecutive All-Tournament honor, completing the EKU Colonel Classic by carding a 71-72-81=224.
Tying for 15th in the 83-player field were senior Whitney Robertson and sophomore Hollee Sadler, who each posted 232. Robertson finished with a 4-over 76 after back-to-back rounds of 78 on Friday. On the heels of two scores of 79 from Friday, Sadler fired off a 2-over 74 on Saturday, the team's low round of the day.
Senior Lydia Triplett finished in a tie for 41st after wrapping up play with a scorecard of 82-77-82=241. Redshirt freshman Shelby Johnson concluded the event with an 83 for a final score of 249.
Competing as an individual, senior Haley Davidson carded 81-85-84=250 in the team's final event before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
Tech will take two weeks to prepare for the league's tournament, heading back to competition Monday Apr. 17 through Wednesday Apr. 19. in Owens Cross Roads, Ala.
