Tech ranked sixth after day one at Golden Eagle Jam

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed the first day of action at the Golden Eagle Jam in Hattiesburg, Miss. Monday evening, rounding out the first 36 holes in sixth place among the nine team field.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up their first 18 holes of competition with a 309 before lowering that total by two strokes in the second round at Hattiesburg Country Club, finishing with a two-round total of 613. Tech finished just the first day within 12 strokes of the next two places, making a move more than possible on the final day of play.

Leading the way individually for the Tech five was sophomore Hollee Sadler, who followed up her first place finish at the Starmount Forest Fall Invitational with a 77-72=149 to rank in a tie for 11th overall in the field of 55.

Sophomore Allyson Dunn came in second among the Golden Eagle starters, tying for 24th after carding a 152. Not far behind, senior Whitney Robertson finished the first 36 holes with a total of 156 after posting rounds of 77 and 79. She finished in a tie for 26th.

Fellow senior Lydia Triplett returned to play to post scores of 78 and 80 for a 158 on the day while sophomore Lindsay Miller notched totals of 81 and 78 to contribute a 159.

Competing as an individual, redshirt freshman Arianna Clemmer made her second appearance of the season to complete rounds of 81 and 80 for a 161.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up play in Hattiesburg Tuesday morning as the event kicks of the third and final round at 8:30 a.m. CT.
