OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – A fantastic first-round performance from Whitney Robertson, along with three great other rounds, helped jump the Tennessee Tech women's golf team into third place after day one at the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship Monday afternoon.

Sparked by a season-low 70 off the clubs of Robertson, the Golden Eagles found themselves just three shots back of first-place Jacksonville State and two behind Eastern Kentucky. Tech's first round total of 304 also gave the squad a two-stroke protection of third place.

Following her lowest 18-hole score of the year, Robertson found herself all alone in first place on Monday, sitting one stroke higher than Belmont's Mallory Sullivan.

Junior veteran Maddi Everts showed some signs in her first round in over two weeks, tying for ninth with a first-round total of 76. Right behind her ranked sophomore Lydia Triplett. The youngster tallied a 77 on day one, tying for 12th overall.

Megan Williamson racked up the scoring with a first-round mark of 81. The sophomore tied for 31st and narrowly edged out teammate Anna Cunningham. A native of Cookeville, Cunningham fired an 82 to tie for 38th.

The OVC Women's Golf Championship will continue with 18 holes of second round action on Tuesday. The action starts at 8:00 a.m. CT and live scoring can be accessed through links at OVCSports.com.
