MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – One of the best rounds of the season propelled the Tennessee Tech women's golf team up two spots and into fourth place after day two of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Tuesday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles carded the second-best score of the day.

The Golden Eagles finished the day with a 301, just three shots back off the pace set by Murray State for the second round. Tech now sits just eight strokes shy of third place Jacksonville State and nine back of the second place Racers. Eastern Kentucky currently leads with an overall score of 599, 15 strokes ahead of Tech's mark of 614.

Sophomore Maddi Everts enjoyed a highly successful, bounce-back performance. The leader of the Tech squad, Everts shot even par for the day, improving eight strokes from day one to tie for seventh place overall. The sophomore was Miss Consistent on the day, shooting par on 14 holes while hitting birdies on two.

Freshman Whitney Robertson nipped at her teammate's heels all day, finishing with a 73 on the day, propelling herself into fifth place in the entire tournament. Named to the OVC All-Newcomer team last night, Robertson birdied three of the first four holes before experiencing a few difficulties on the back nine. She recovered nicely on the 17th hole, grabbing her fourth birdie of the day to finish one over.

Sophomores Megan Williamson and Allison Geer, as well as freshman Lydia Triplett all finished the day with scores of 78. Geer, who led the Tech squad on day one finished the second round in a tie for 13th overall after finishing the day six over.

Williamson sits not too far behind, tied for 21st after shaving two strokes off her total from yesterday. Triplett enjoyed a six-stroke improvement over the second 18 holes of the tournament, sitting in a tie for 29th in the field of 50 golfers with an overall score of 162.

Tech is in great position for upward movement heading into the final day of the OVC Championships, looking to duplicate its fantastic day two performance.
