COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - For the first time since its inaugural year a Tennessee Tech women's golfer has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team, as freshman Whitney Robertson earned the honors Monday evening.

A native of Clarksville, Tenn., Robertson led the team and ranked 16th in the league in scoring average this season with a mark of 78.27. She has put together four top 10 finishes on the year while carding a low round of 72 at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational in October.

Robertson becomes the first Golden Eagle to earn OVC All-Newcomer honors since current assistant coach Carla Hazelwood was named to the team in 2006, the first year the team was named.

Jacksonville State's Anne Kathrin Albrecht was named the 2013-14 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. The award, along with the All-OVC and All-Newcomer squads, were announced Monday evening at a banquet following the first day of play at the 2014 OVC Championship.

The OVC Player and Coach of the Year awards will be announced Wednesday afternoon following the final round of play at the Championship, which is being held at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
