BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- And then there were two.
With injuries and illness sacking several members of the team, the
Tennessee Tech women's golf squad dwindled to two individual
participants Monday for the Samford Intercollegiate.
Amber
Shepherd [in photo] is tied for 21st place and Amanda Randolph
is locked in a tie for 46th place following the first two rounds of
the tournament Monday, with the final 18 holes scheduled for
Tuesday morning.
Shepherd closed the first round tied for fifth place after
shooting an opening round 73, but slipped to an 80 in her second
tour of the Limestone Springs Golf Course. Her 36-hole total of 155
has her in a tie for 21st place.
Randolph carded a 79 in the first round and 83 in the second,
putting her at 162 and tied for 46th.
Florida Southern put together rounds of 298 and 301 to grab a
two-stroke lead over Middle Tennessee State in the team standings.
Nine teams are competing. The only other OVC school in the field,
Jacksonville State is in seventh place.
