Tech women's basketball adds Walters State All-American Kiera Hill

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –  Fresh off a 21-win season, an appearance in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship game, and the first WNIT win in 16 years, the momentum continues to build for Tennessee Tech women's basketball as head coach Kim Rosamond announced the signing of junior college All-American Kiera Hill on Monday.

Hill, a transfer from Walters State, made her mark in the paint for Coach Jasmin Coleman and the Lady Senators. The 5-10 post player earned NJCAA second-team All-America honors this past season and the numbers speak for themselves – Hill played and started in all 26 games for Walters State, averaging 18.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Her scoring average was the 13th best rated in the country on the JUCO level.

"I love the level of physicality and toughness Kiera will bring to our team," Rosamond stated.  "She has worked so hard to achieve the level of success she experienced this past season at Walters, and she is a relentless competitor.  Kiera is a dynamic scorer and rebounder, and I expect her to play a vital role in helping us compete for an OVC championship next season."

A physical scorer, Hill had a 47.7 completion rate from the field and 74 percent from the charity stripe. In 12 of the 26 games this past season, she scored 20 or more points, while also collecting double-figure rebounds in 14 games. She had a season-best 17 boards twice and had 13 double-doubles this past year.

Hill led the conference in points per game and rebounds per game, and she was also named the 2022 TCCAA/Region VII Women's Player of the Year, 2022 TCCAA/Region VII Offensive Player of the Year and the All-TCCAA/Region VII First Team.

Walters State won the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII tournament, topping Dyersburg State, Roane State and Cleveland State to win the crown, before falling to Trinity Valley in the NJCAA national tournament. The Lady Senators went 19-7 overall last season, 14-1 in league play.

The Trenton, Tenn., native, who played her high school ball at Peabody High School, will join a stellar class of 2022 signees that include Cayla Cowart (West Forsyth [Ga.] HS) who was named to the 7A GHSA 2nd team All-State team, Reghan Grimes (Ravenwood HS) who was recently named to the TSWA 2021-22 4A All-State team along with TSWA All-State and TSSAA Class 4A Miss Basketball winner Jenn Sullivan (Bearden HS).
