BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Last week was a great week for Anna Jones as the Jackson native put up big numbers in a pair of victories against Eastern Illinois and Austin Peay.

For her efforts, she was rewarded. Jones placed well among all the ballots cast by the league's sports information contacts and claimed a share of the Ohio Valley Conference's Player of the Week honor, splitting the award with Murray State's Katelyn Young.

Jones, for the week, averaged a double-double as she posted a 13.0-point, 11.0-rebound average in the victories against the Panthers and the Governors. Monday's 25-point, 12-rebound effort against UT Martin will be in consideration for next week's award.

Against EIU, Jones collected her second career double-double as she scored 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and pulled down 13 rebounds – five offensive and eight defensive. She also dished out three assists in the contest.

On Saturday against Austin Peay, Jones scored 16 points on 5-of-15 shooting with two 3-pointers and a 4-for-9 night at the free-throw line. She also had nine rebounds – six offensive and three defensive – along with four assists, three steals and a block.

Young averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Racers last week in victories over SIUE and Morehead State.

The Golden Eagles (13-7, 8-2 OVC) currently have a half-game lead over Belmont (7-2) to stand in sole possession of first place in the league standings. Tech is a game up on Murray State (7-3), while Austin Peay (6-3), Eastern Illinois (6-4), Tennessee State (6-4) and SIUE (5-5) round out the top seven.

Tech has won six straight games and 11 of the last 13. The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday as they travel to Morehead State (1-19, 0-10 OVC), before returning home to take on Belmont on Saturday.
