COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Saturday's game between Samford and the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team has been canceled as the visiting Bulldogs have entered COVID protocols.

The Tech women are looking for an additional opponent to fill in on Saturday. If successful, that will be announced late this afternoon into the evening.

"Everyone involved with collegiate athletics knew that this was a possibility this season," said Tech director of athletics Mark Wilson, "and that is the biggest reason we have stressed the importance of flexibility. All of us are doing our due diligence to make sure we keep our student-athletes, coaches, support staff and fans safe during this time.

"We will do everything in our power to give our student-athletes an opportunity to play, but this is a time to be patient and flexible."

The game against the Bulldogs was originally scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip at the Eblen Center.

The cancellation marks the fifth erasure or postponement for the Tech women's team this season as the Golden Eagles stand with a 2-1 record going into this weekend.
