Connecting our Past with our Present, with Assistant Coach Allison Clark

By Allison Clark, TTU Women's Basketball

With our 2018 Maintain the Tradition Alumni Weekend beginning this Friday, I'm always excited to see former teammates and familiar faces that make their way back to Cookeville. This time of year always floods my mind with emotions of what Tennessee Tech continues to mean to me and so many others.

The tradition of Tennessee Tech women's basketball dates back many years. As a proud alum, I often reflect on my journey with the women's basketball team from 1998-2002. I loved winning championships, but it was the memories with my teammates that will last a lifetime. Basketball was a vessel for many of us to travel and explore places that we had never been. Hawaii and Las Vegas highlighted the trips during my career as a Golden Eagle. My teammates and I still reminisce about being able to see Pearl Harbor and being enamored with flying into Vegas at night.

Without the support of our fans and the Cookeville community, our student-athletes would not be able to have the same experience as I had - traveling and competing at the highest level. Our Maintain the Tradition Free Throw Fundraiser will take place on Sunday, November 4, from 2-3 p.m. in Memorial Gym on campus. Each player on our team will be shooting 100 free throws. You may sponsor a player by pledging a certain amount for every free throw they make (ex: 50 cents or $1 per make). You may also opt to give a flat-rate donation to our program. The fundraiser will continue through November 13. For more information, you can call 931-372-3922 or email me at amclark@tntech.edu.

As a former player, I was so grateful for the relationships that I developed with many people in this community. When you are part of a team, you are given a platform to be a representative for Tennessee Tech in every aspect of your life. Our team is striving to be the best both on and off the floor. I can't think of better role models for the youth in this city than our student-athletes here at TTU. Please consider donating to help continue the tradition of building positive ambassadors for both Cookeville and Tennessee Tech.  Your support and generosity help us to empower our young women to be positive leaders not only on campus but in this community.

Sincerely,

Allison Clark
