NASHVILLE – A pair of Golden Eagle women's basketball greats in new Tech alumna Yaktavia "Shug" Hickson and longtime Tech head coach Marynell Meadors will make their return to Tennessee this weekend for a game wearing colors other than purple and gold.

The Atlanta Monarchs, a new member team of the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League and coached by Meadors, travel to Nashville on Saturday, May 12 for a game with the Music City Icons. It marks their first road contest of the 2018 season and Hickson's first with the team since departing Tech (the Monarchs opened at home last Saturday with a 92-61 win over the Georgia Stampede, which Hickson did not play in to walk at her Tech graduation).

Hickson joined the Monarchs in April, and Meadors was announced as Atlanta's head coach upon the team's formation back in December 2017.

Prior to the game's 4 p.m. CT start, the Monarchs will host a youth basketball clinic from 10 a.m. CT to noon. All Atlanta players and coaches, including Hickson and Meadors, will be in attendance. A clinic ticket also includes admission to the game later that afternoon. To purchase clinic tickets, visit the Music City Youth Basketball Clinic's EventBrite page.

The Ensworth School, located at 211 Ensworth Avenue in Nashville, will host both the clinic and the game.
