Tech wraps up road stretch with game at Mercer

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team heads to Mercer University (2-1) for the final game of the four-game road stand that opened the season.

Tech (1-2) is looking to bounce back from a two-game skid, following a 61-79 loss at Valparaiso.

Senior Candace Parson and junior Samaria Howard both finished with 12 points in the loss, while junior Mariah Dean added 11.

Tech could not stop the three-point bombardment that the Crusaders brought on Saturday night. Valpo hit 12 shots from deep, while TTU connected on just three.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Golden Eagles and the Mercer Bears have met six times prior to Tuesdays match-up, with TTU holding a 4-1 advantage.  However, the last time these two squads was in 1993-94, when Tech won 72-53.

Mercer's roster features four seniors and eight freshmen. Senior guard Precious Bridges is leading the way for the Bears, averaging 23.3 points per game on 52.1 percent.  As a team, the Bears are averaging 71.7 points, while holding opponents to 69.7. 

Howard leads the Golden Eagles with 15 points per game, while shooting 54.8 percent. As a team, Tech is averaging 65.3 points, while giving up 74.7 following the first three games. 

As a whole, Tech holds a height advantage over the Bears, however, the Bears use six-foot-five center Teanna Robinson to control the paint. Robinson is averaging three blocks a game.
