Tech faces Morehead in final conference game of the season

Gameday Central

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team has one more game this regular season as they head to Morehead State for a 4:15 p.m. CT showdown on Saturday.

Following a nail-biting 76-74 win at Eastern Kentucky, the Golden Eagles moved to 9-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference, putting them in position to have a bye in the first round of the OVC tournament.

Now all that is to be determined is whether they are the 3rd or the 4th seed. Tech is guaranteed the fourth seed no matter what, but if EKU loses to Tennessee State and Belmont and Tech tie at 10-6, Belmont would hold the tiebreakers getting the 2nd seed, and Tech would get the 3rd.

Tech just needs to continue to build momentum heading into the tournament.

Last time Morehead and Tech matched up, senior Molly Heady and graduate student Kayla Brewer led the Golden Eagles to victory, 71-58. Heady finished with 14 points, hitting 4-for-4 from long range, and grabbed six rebounds. Brewer added 10 points, a career-high 12 rebounds, six blocked shots, four assists and two steals. Candace Parson netted 12 and grabbed eight rebounds, Diamond Henderson scored a game-high 16 with six assists and three steals, and Hannah Goolsby scored 13. Morehead State was led by Shanice Parker with 15 points, three assists and three steals. Aaliyah Wells added 12 points and Almesha Jones scored 11.

Heady is just 23 points shy of the 1,000-point mark. She is averaging 7.7 points per game this season.

The game will be available on the OVC Digital Network and on the radio on 106.1 FM The Eagle with the Golden Eagle Sports Network's own Roger Ealey on the call.
