COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team brings in the New Year with a non-conference game against instate foe Middle Tennessee on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. CT.

This will be the 90th game between the two squads dating back to the 1970-71 season. Tech leads the all-time series 50-39, but is on an eight-game losing streak to the Blue Raiders, including last season's overtime loss at the Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles (4-9, 1-0) are coming off of a 72-67 home win over Jacksonville State where four different players were able to net double-digit points. Junior Candace Parson led the way with 15, while fellow juniors Diamond Henderson and T'Keyah Williams each added 14, and graduate student Kayla Brewer added 10.

MTSU (10-3) is riding a nine-game winning streak, including a most recent win over Clemson, 76-51. The Blue Raiders are led by senior forward Ebony Rowe who is averaging 22.7 points and 11.5 rebounds. Junior guard Shanice Cason adds 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Tech is 1-1 versus opponents from Tennessee so far this season. The Golden Eagles opened up the season with a demonstrative win over Tennessee Wesleyan, 94-41, and then lost a double overtime match up with Memphis, 78-76. However, both of those games were at home and Tech is 1-7 on the road this season.

The game will be available on the Golden Eagle Sports Network with play by play called by Dylan Vazzano.
