LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A strong second half surge was not enough as the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team (2-3) was handed a loss by the Marquette Golden Eagles, 84-64.

The TTU Golden Eagles out-scored Marquette 39-36 in the second half, led by junior Diamond Henderson's 17 second half points, but the effort was not enough to overcome the 25-48 deficit at the intermission.

Marquette (5-1) saw three players in the double-digits after the first half, Arlesia Morse and Katie Young both had 10 before the break, while Katherine Plouffe dropped 13.

Marquette outrebounded Tech 27-9 in the first half, and 51-28 in the second, including 18 offensive boards for Marquette.

Henderson finished with 22 points and three assists, while junior T'Keyah Williams finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Junior Candace Parson finished the game with six points, five rebounds, three of which were offensive, and three steals.

Morse led the game with 24 points for Marquette, while Plouffe finished with 21, and Young finished with 12 points and nine boards.

The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT as they take on the Ball State Cardinals.
