NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the Commodore Challenge Saturday, completing the final events contested at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility in Nashville.
Nashville native Jalena Curbeam turned in the top performance of the day for the purple and gold, just missing the podium with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump. Curbeam produced a mark of 11.32 meters (37'1.75") for her top-five placement. Rookie Madison Cowan put forth a personal record showing as well, finishing the event ninth overall with a mark of 10.92 meters (35'10").
Taking part in her first indoor competition of the year, Helen Pacurariu-Nagy put forth a personal-best time in the 3,000-meter run. The CBU transfer finished 10th in the field with a time of 10:25.00. Also in long-distance competition, Tina Cesnik produced a PR by finishing 10th in the one-mile run with a time of 5:29.95.
In the 400-meter dash, it was freshman Amara Nwajagu pacing the Tech participants with a personal-record performance. Finishing 11th overall, she tallied a mark of 59.34. Trenia Stephens set a PR in the event as well with a time of 1:01.41.
Also producing personal marks on the day were Kategie Casseus in the 60-meter dash (8.04) and Cayla Johnson in the 60-meter hurdles (9.59) and the shotput (10.67 meters/35'0.25" – indoor record).

The Golden Eagles will compete next at the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational, hosted by ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn. from Friday, Feb. 4 through Saturday, Feb. 5.
