Wickham breaks OVC record, four others set PRs at Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala, - Senior Lisa Wickham's record-breaking 60m and four PRs highlighted Tennessee Tech track and field's second day at the OVC Indoor Championships in Birmingham.

"I am proud of our team's performances over the past two days," expressed head coach Peter Dalton. "We had a lot of success that we will be able to build upon for the future."

Wickham capped off an incredible indoor season with a dominant performance in the 60-meters. Her blazing 7.27 second performance blew away the previous conference meet record by fourteen-hundredths of a second, as well as winning the event by a daunting 27-hundredths of a second.

Junior Ceirra Tate and freshman Lyn'Nikka Vance followed closely behind Wickham, finishing third and fourth in the 60-meter finals, respectively. Tate crossed with a time of 7.55, finishing just one-hundredth of a second behind the second-place finisher. Vance crossed one-hundredth behind Tate with a 7.56-second performance.

In the 200m, Tate finished fourth with a personal-best performance of 24.57 seconds, while Vance also claimed a new personal best, finishing fifth in the field with a time of 24.72 seconds. 

In the 3,000m, Nancy Jesang paced the Golden Eagles with a 15th-place finish, while fellow freshman Rahab Sawe claimed a personal-best with a time of 10:51.77. 

In the field events, Keyanna Word secured a new personal best in the shot put with a 10.22m (33' 6.5") toss.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held on March 13-14 in Albuquerque, N.M. Qualifiers, who rank in the top 16 in their respective events, will be announced in the coming weeks.
