COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech students, if you're looking for an opportunity to compete for the Golden Eagles, here's your chance.

Tech track and field coach Wayne Angel is looking for students who can compete for the women's track and field team as a walk-on.

"We're looking for runners, jumpers, whatever," Angel said. "Tennessee Tech wants you. This is a program on the rise and we're looking for student-athletes that can make this university proud."

There has never been a better time to join the Tennessee Tech track and field program. The Golden Eagles are coming off indoor and outdoor Ohio Valley Conference Championships in 2017-18, the first two league championships in school history. Along with the unprecedented team success, TTU athletes have won several individual conference championships, and continue to rewrite the school record book through four seasons under Angel's leadership. Jumper Khemani Roberts broke an astonishing seven school marks last year, including the pentathlon, heptathlon, indoor and outdoor high jump, and outdoor long jump. Three athletes - Roberts, D'Airrien Jackson and Na'Asha Robinson - qualfied for postseason competition in the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

"And we know there are students here that are capable of helping this program reach new heights and we need their help," Angel said. "This is an amazing group of girls with incredible talent, but we need people to join them."

The team travels across the Southeast in competition on the Division I level against some of the top schools in the country. The friendships formed on the team have been tight-knit.

And now the team is looking to expand its numbers.

"This is an amazing opportunity and we know there are students at this campus who are worthy of the task," Angel said. "If you love to compete, we want you. If you love to run, we want you. If you want to represent this university against some of the best runners out there, we want you."
