Roberts named adidas® OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Khemani Roberts has been named the adidas® OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference on Wednesday in its latest weekly report of the 2017-18 outdoor season.

Roberts received the recognition after her performance at the Virginia Challenge last weekend, where she competed in the heptathlon for the first time this season.

Roberts finished third with a school-record 5,353 points, also breaking Tech records in the high and long jumps. Her winning high jump mark of 1.77m/5'9¾ passed Katherine Lynn's height of 1.73m/5'8" from May 2011. Her long jump mark of 5.88m/19'3½ also passed teammate Sharnique Leonce's previous school record of 5.68m/18'7.75" from March 2017.

In the OVC, Roberts now ranks first in the heptathlon, second in the high jump and fifth in the long jump. In the NCAA Division I East, she ranks 14th in the heptathlon and 17th in the high jump and is also 33rd in the heptathlon and 34th in the high jump nationally.  

Roberts shares this week's honor with Eastern Illinois' Haleigh Knapp.

Track Athlete of the Week – Ciara Scott, Eastern Kentucky
Co-Field Athletes of the Week – Haleigh Knapp, Eastern Illinois & Khemani Roberts, Tennessee Tech
 
Tech ends the outdoor regular season this Friday and Saturday at the Lenny Lyles / Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.
