BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – D'Airrien Jackson has been named the adidas® OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference on Wednesday in its second weekly report of the 2017-18 indoor season.
The junior from Santa Clara, California, appeared in three track events with Tech in last weekend's Commodore Invitational. She put up a career-best time of 53.57 in the 400m dash, helping Tech to a 1-2 finish (teammate Na'Asha Robinson finished second) in the event. Her time also ranks second-fastest in NCAA Division I women's track this year.
Jackson also finished fifth in the 200m dash, her only other individual event of the meet, with a time of 24.90. She teamed up with Robinson, Ceirra Tate and Khemani Roberts in the 4x400m relay to end the meet, finishing third overall with a time of 3:43.43. That time is also nationally ranked at 22nd-best in the country.
Jackson shares this week's honor with Eastern Kentucky senior distance runner Charlotte Imer.
This honor marks Jackson's first of her indoor career. She was last named outdoor track athlete of the week in April 2017.
