Tech to open indoor season at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Tech track & field opens up its indoor season Saturday morning at the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener for the third-straight season.

Saturday's meet at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility will be the lone competition for Tech in 2017 – the Golden Eagles will break afterward for the holidays and the end of the fall semester and resume their season on Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Orange & Purple Classic in Clemson, South Carolina.

Tech will send 14 student-athletes to Nashville to compete in 11 events and will also have five members of the men's cross country team race in the mile and 3000 meters.

Tech is coming off a fantastic indoor campaign last season, finishing second at the OVC Indoor Championships in Charleston, Illinois, to mark the program's highest-ever team finish. Head coach Wayne Angel also received Tech's first indoor OVC Coach of the Year honor.
 
Na'Asha Robinson will look to defend her 200m and pair of 400m dash conference titles, and she, Sharnique Leonce and D'Airrien Jackson return as the reigning 4x400m relay champions. Leonce also won the pentathlon title in 2017.
