MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee track and field team took part in their final preparatory meet before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship meet. The Golden Eagles competed at the Battle of the Cumberland against Austin Peay and host Murray State. In head-to-head battle, Murray beat the Golden Eagles, 80-40, while APSU beat TTU 88-29.
Personal bests highlighted the final regular season meet of the season for TTU. Sophomore Atlanta Westbrook, who is fresh off of a TTU school record in the triple jump, set a personal record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.92. Freshman Brittany McGee also got a personal record in that even with a time of 1:09.80. Westbrook also set a PR in the long jump with a distance of 17-07.
Senior Rebecca Cline hit a personal best time on the 800-Meter Race, with a time of 2:22.90.
In the discus event, sophomore Jaelyn Todd and freshman Makayla Kington both hit personal bests. Todd threw for a PR mark of 117-09, while Kington tossed a distance of 105-10.
Tech will look to keep improving on those marks and keep pushing forward towards the OVC Championships. The OVC Outdoor Championships will be held in Edwardsville, Ill. on the campus of SIU Edwardsville, May 2-3.
