CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Rachel Forbes took first place in the
javelin throw, and the Tennessee Tech track and field team had four
second-place finishes at the Austin Peay Invitational in
Clarksville, Tenn.
Keri Light finished second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4
minutes 28.75 seconds , Meagan Lyons took second in the high jump,
clearing 1.58 meters, Ashley Mayhew’s hammer throw toss of
40.50 meters was good for second, and the 4X400 meter relay team of
Leayn Carter, Jenna Philpott, Emily Weinzetl and Ifeyinway Eguzo
took second place with a time of 50.34 seconds.
Mayhew also took third place in the shot put, with a distance of
12.47 meters, and Light snatched fourth place in the 800 meter run,
finishing in 2:18.19.
Lyons, also a member of Tech’s women’s basketball team,
placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing in 15.70. Allison
Price, another Tech basketball player, notched a pair of sixth
place finishes the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
Tiffany Palmer ran the two-mile in 11:46.11, which was good enough
for a fifth place finish.
The team will be back in action on April 11 in Nashville for the
Tennessee State Invitational. Tech will also compete in the Murray
State Invitational on April 18 before the Ohio Valley Conference
championships May 1-2 in Richmond, Ky.
