JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The rain relented long enough for Tennessee Tech to get at least one game in at the Buccaneer Classic on Saturday, but the Golden Eagles couldn't get the hits to get the runs across to keep pace with Rutgers, falling 9-1 in the contest.

Tech (8-6) returns to action on Sunday as the Golden Eagles open their home slate with a doubleheader against Bradley, starting at noon.

Alyssa Arden (4-3) took the loss in the contest, allowing five runs – four earned – on four hits as she walked and struck out two over 3 2/3 innings. Haeli Bryson came on in relief, inheriting three runners as two came home to score in the fourth. She finished with 2 1/3 innings of work, allowing three runs – two earned – on three hits, while walking one. Callie Piper closed out the contest, allowing the Scarlet Knights' final run – an unearned one as well – on one hit.

Tech was charged with three errors, while also stranding seven baserunners.

Sydney Love-Baker went 2-for-2 in the game, driving in Tech's only run in the sixth inning with her fourth home run of the season. Gabby LaSala, Alexis Trimiar and Jessie Lowery picked up the Golden Eagles' other hits.
