BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – There's no question that the Tennessee Tech softball team was looking forward to when senior ace Taylor Waldrop could return to the lineup.

And when she did, what an impact she made – collecting her first two career shutouts in her first two Ohio Valley Conference starts.

With that, Waldrop was an easy selection this week as the OVC's Pitcher of the Week, as voted on by the league's sports information contacts.

Waldrop concluded the week with a 2-0 record, a 0.00 earned run average, two complete games, two shutouts with two walks and eight strikeouts in 12 innings of work.

It was the first starts for the senior from Canon, Ga., since March 18th, where she pitched five innings against Eastern Michigan. With a back injury, Waldrop missed the first three OVC series of the season.

But in her return, Waldrop shut out Tennessee State in a run-ruled, five-inning contest on Friday, then emerged victorious in a pitchers' duel on Sunday against Belmont in a 3-0 win.

Tech returns to action on Saturday as the Golden Eagles host Murray State in a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
