CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Gabby LaSala went 4-for-6 from the plate on Friday as she tried to get the bats going for the Tennessee Tech softball team, but the streaking Austin Peay team got the upper hand, taking both games 7-2 and 2-1.

Tech (9-23, 0-6 Ohio Valley Conference) is idle for the rest of the Easter holiday weekend, returning to action on Saturday, April 7, as the Golden Eagles host Tennessee State and try to snap a seven-game losing streak.

In game one, Leigh Ellen Thomas was able to strand nine Austin Peay baserunners, but her counterpart, Megan Rackel, wasn't giving the Golden Eagles many to work with. Rackel struck out 12 of 28 batters faced, allowing two runs – one earned – on seven hits.

Thomas allowed seven runs on 11 hits, walking six and striking out two.

Sydney Love-Baker picked up Tech's lone RBI of the game as she drove in Raegan Sparks in the fifth inning on a fielder's choice to second.

LaSala put Tech's first run on the scoreboard in the third, tying the game at one, as she scored on a fielding error at first.

But the damage was done in the APSU third as the Govs struck for five runs, including a two-run single for Kendall Vedder and a three-run home run from Brooke Pfefferle.

Austin Peay (20-9, 5-1 OVC) added an insurance run in the sixth as Bailey Shorter drove in Emily Moore with a grounder back to the circle.

In game two, the pitchers were keeping the bats quiet. Kayla Hughes gave up four hits, Kelly Mardones two.

Danielle Liermann put the Govs on top with a solo home run in the bottom of the first, then APSU took a 2-0 lead on a Rackel grounder to second, driving in Natalie Schilling.

Hallie Davis put Tech's lone run on the board, hitting a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning.

Hughes allowed two runs while walking seven and striking out two, while Mardones gave up the one run with no walks and three strikeouts.
