Tech softball heads to Murray State on Friday

MURRAY, Ky. – After a two-game home set on Wednesday, the Tennessee Tech softball team gets back on the road on Friday as the Golden Eagles play a twinbill at Murray State to continue Ohio Valley Conference play.
 
Action on Friday starts at 1 p.m.
In the standings, Tennessee Tech (13-24) currently stands in fifth at 6-4 in the league, holding just a half-game advantage over the Racers. The top eight advance to the OVC tournament in May, with the Golden Eagles standing three games ahead of the current ninth-spot, Morehead State at 3-7.
Murray State has won three of its last four games, sweeping Southeast Missouri and taking a split against UT Martin, but has lost four of its last seven with a pair of defeats at Jacksonville State.
The Racers (28-13, 5-4 OVC) are currently batting .307 as a team, led by Jessica Twaddle, who is hitting .429 and has 10 home runs and 13 doubles among her 54 hits and has 101 total bases to her credit. She has driven in a team-high 34 runs and scored 33 times.
Taylor Odom and Jocelynn Rodgers each have 24 RBI to help pace a Racer team that has outscored its foes 218-157.
In the circle, Mason Robinson has been tough to beat, accumulating a 19-6 record this season with a 1.86 ERA. She is averaging nearly one hit allowed per inning in her 154 2/3-inning tenure and teams are hitting .241 against her. She has walked 22 and struck out 85.
 
Other options in the circle include Haven Campbell (8-7, 4.32 ERA), Amber Van Duyse (1-0, 5.85 ERA) and Ellison Barrett (0-0, 12.00 ERA).
Aalia Bivens leads Tech at the plate with a .320 average, while Alyssa Richards has driven in 18 runs and Hallie Davis 17. Davis and Gabby LaSala also lead Tech in runs scored with 18 each.
 
In the circle, Danielle Liberatore will be Tech's top option with a 5-8 record in 17 appearances and a 3.50 ERA to go along with 51 walks and 126 strikeouts. Batters are hitting .256 against her.
Leigh Ellen Thomas (6-10, 4.33 ERA), Kayla Hughes (1-3, 3.00 ERA) and Taylor Waldrop (1-3, 5.25 ERA) provide depth for the Golden Eagles.
