Tech tops Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, falls to South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech softball team improved its record as the Golden Eagles claimed a victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday in the South Alabama Invitational.

Following the 2-0 victory, Tech fell 2-0 to South Alabama.

Gabby Perez led the Golden Eagles as she led Tech with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

The Golden Eagles scored its first run as Callen Griffin scored on a sacrifice fly from Hallie Davis in the third inning, then scored again in the sixth as Alyssa Richards scored on Bayli Cruse's single to left field.

Tech collected five total hits while Danielle Liberatore collected her first win of the season, allowing two hits in seven innings of work, while she walked one and struck out nine.

Against South Alabama, Tech's Leigh Ellen Thomas took the complete-game loss, allowing two runs on 10 hits, walking none and striking out four.

Tech didn't record a hit in the contest, while the Jaguars (10-1) recorded two runs on 10 hits.

The Golden Eagles (2-9) return to action on Saturday as they face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a second time at 11:30 a.m.
