College Sports Madness names Melody Christian first-team all-OVC

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Women's College World Series is days away from crowning a champion, but Tennessee Tech softball continues to bring in honors, this one for senior leader Melody Christian. College Sports Madness has recognized Christian as first-team all-OVC honoree.

Christian was previously honored by the Ohio Valley Conference as a member of the all-conference second-team squad after her outstanding individual play during the 2013 season.

Christian has led the team in hits, runs, and stolen bases all four years at Tech and this season she solidified her spot in the record books with 89 career steals, the second most in program history. Christian started in all but one game in the 2013 season and finished with a .365 batting average. Christian connected for 62 hits in 170 appearances, driving in 33 runs. Christian held the longest hit streak in the OVC with a 16-game run, after opening the season with an 11-game streak. Christian had a season high three hits in three different games prior to the conference schedule.
