COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With 12 new players taking the field this
year, Tennessee Tech softball coach Tory Acheson has some work to
do. So, he's digging in this fall by putting the Golden Eagles into
action including a doubleheader on Saturday.
Tech swept a doubleheader last weekend from Roane State, and this
Saturday will be back on the diamond to host a doubeleheader
against Chattanooga State. The games don't count on the team's
record or for individual stats, but for Acheson and his young squad
the contests are extremely valuable.
The doubleheader with Chattanooga State is scheduled for 1 p.m. on
the Tech Softball Field, and admission is free.
The team has two more doubleheaders on the road planned in
October, as well as a couple of public services projects. On Sept.
30 and Oct. 1, many Golden Eagle players and the coaching staff
will be in Algood to work at the annual Bark in the Park.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, the team will be at UT Chattanooga to play a
pair of games. Tech meets Chattanooga State at 11 a.m. and Milligan
at 1 p.m. Two weeks later, the Golden Eagles will be in Knoxville
to play at the University of Tennessee. Tech will face Tennessee
followed by a contest with Vol State.
